There's no reason to ~; ~ is not warranted

Formation

Explanation

Means "it is not worth ~" or "~ is not called for". It is used with words for reactions or judgments such as 驚く (be surprised), 感心する (be impressed), 悲観する (be pessimistic) and 責める (blame). It often follows a reason, saying that a certain reaction is unjustified.

Examples

He practiced every day, so it is no surprise that he won.

There's no need to be so pessimistic just because you failed once.

It is common for newcomers to make this mistake, so there is no reason to blame them.

The price went up because of higher material costs, so it does not deserve criticism.

Notes

〜までもない means something is unnecessary because it is easy or obvious; 〜にはあたらない means a reaction or judgment is not justified. It may also be written
