Explanation
Attached to a noun, this written expression means that a state has reached its highest point. It works for good things (贅沢の極み, 感激の極み) and bad things (疲労の極み, 無責任の極み); about other people's actions it becomes strong criticism. Common forms are 〜の極みだ and 〜の極みに達する.

Notes
の至り is mainly for formal statements of one's own feelings, while の極み can also criticize others. 極まる attaches to na-adjective stems; の極み follows a noun + の.
