〜の極み

व्याख्या

Attached to a noun, this written expression means that a state has reached its highest point. It works for good things (贅沢の極み, 感激の極み) and bad things (疲労の極み, 無責任の極み); about other people's actions it becomes strong criticism. Common forms are 〜の極みだ and 〜の極みに達する.

उदाहरण

  • 海うみの見みえるホテルの部屋へやで朝食ちょうしょくをとるなんて、贅沢ぜいたくの極きわみだ。

    Having breakfast in a hotel room with a view of the sea is the height of luxury.

  • 三日間みっかかんほとんど寝ねずに働はたらき、疲労ひろうの極きわみに達たっした。

    After working for three days with almost no sleep, I reached the limit of exhaustion.

  • 大切たいせつな書類しょるいをなくして謝あやまりもしないとは、無責任むせきにんの極きわみだ。

    Losing important documents and not even apologizing is the height of irresponsibility.

  • 憧あこがれの選手せんしゅと握手あくしゅでき、感激かんげきの極きわみだった。

    I was overjoyed to shake hands with the athlete I admire.

टिप्पणी

の至り is mainly for formal statements of one's own feelings, while の極み can also criticize others. 極まる attaches to na-adjective stems; の極み follows a noun + の.
