Midoriya, a long-established Japanese sweets shop that has stood in the shopping street in front of the station for nearly 100 years, will close at the end of this month.
This is because the third-generation owner, Mr. Yamamoto (78), has decided to retire.
For Midoriya's sweets, Mr. Yamamoto has done everything with his own hands, from choosing the beans all the way to the wrapping.
Never sparing time and effort. That is the one thing my father taught me," says Mr. Yamamoto.
Even now, every corner of the shop is spotlessly clean, and the old wooden shelves shine.

Next spring, I, his grandchild, will take over this shop. Until then, I will be training."
It was written by Sakura, his granddaughter, a university student who had been helping at the shop every Saturday.
The shop curtain is just taking a little rest," Mr. Yamamoto said with a slightly embarrassed smile.
