  • N + (の) + いかんにかかわらず
  • N + (の) + いかんによらず
  • N + (の) + いかんを問わず

Means "no matter how N is"; what follows does not change. Common phrases are 理由のいかんにかかわらず and 結果のいかんにかかわらず. It is very formal and appears in notices, rules, and contracts. いかんによらず and いかんを問わず mean almost the same.

Exemplos

  • 理由りゆうのいかんにかかわらず、一度いちど支払しはらわれた料金りょうきんはお返かえしできません。

    Regardless of the reason, fees once paid cannot be refunded.

Undaunted by ~; in defiance of ~

Formação
  • N + をものともせず(に)

Means facing a difficulty such as an injury, opposition, or bad weather without being stopped by it. The speaker uses it to admire someone else's brave action, rarely for themselves. The second half describes an actual action or result, never a command, request, or intention.

本日ほんじつは、早朝そうちょうから強つよい雨あめと風かぜが続つづく悪天候あくてんこうの中なか、市民しみんマラソンにご参加さんかいただき、ありがとうございました。Thank you all for taking part in today's city marathon, in bad weather with strong rain and wind since early morning.

大会たいかいを開ひらくかどうか、私わたしたち主催者しゅさいしゃも前日ぜんじつの夜よるまで迷まよいました。We, the organizers, were unsure until the night before whether to hold the race at all.

しかし皆みなさんは、冷つめたい雨あめをものともせず、次々つぎつぎとスタートラインに並ならんでくださいました。But you came to the starting line one after another, undaunted by the cold rain.

坂道さかみちで足あしが止とまりそうになっても果敢かかんに前まえへ進すすむ皆みなさんに、沿道えんどうからは傘かさを差さした市民しみんの声援せいえんが絶たえませんでした。As you boldly pushed on even when your legs almost stopped on the hills, people holding umbrellas along the road never stopped cheering.

残念ざんねんながら途中とちゅうで棄権きけんされた方かたもいらっしゃいますが、この逆境ぎゃっきょうの中なかで挑いどんだこと自体じたいが立派りっぱな記録きろくです。Sadly, some of you had to drop out partway, but taking on the race in such adverse conditions is itself a fine achievement.

私わたしたちは、順位じゅんいのいかんにかかわらず、全員ぜんいんの健闘けんとうを心こころからたたえたいと思おもいます。Regardless of your finishing positions, we sincerely praise the effort of every one of you.

最後さいごに、お一人ひとりだけご紹介しょうかいさせてください。Finally, let me introduce just one person.

今大会こんたいかいの最高齢さいこうれい、八十二歳はちじゅうにさいの佐藤さとうさんは、制限時間せいげんじかんぎりぎりまで粘ねばり強づよく走はしり、ゴールされました。Mr. Sato, at 82 the oldest runner in this race, kept going persistently and finished just within the time limit.

ゴールの後あと、感想かんそうを聞きかれた佐藤さとうさんは、笑顔えがおでこう答こたえたそうです。When asked how it went after finishing, he reportedly answered with a smile:

「雨あめのおかげで涼すずしくて、去年きょねんより速はやく走はしれましたよ。」"Thanks to the rain it was cool, so I ran faster than last year."

来年らいねんも天候てんこうのいかんにかかわらず、皆みなさんとこの道みちを走はしれる日ひを楽たのしみにしています。Whatever the weather, we look forward to running this road with you again next year.
