解說
Picks two aspects of something and evaluates the whole: "whether you look at X or Y." The second half is the speaker's evaluation, such as wonderful or terrible. It works for good and bad evaluations, but not for plain facts, actions, or requests.
例句
色といい形といい、このかばんは私の好みにぴったりだ。
Both in color and shape, this bag is exactly to my taste.
味といい値段といい、この店のランチは文句のつけようがない。
In both taste and price, this restaurant's lunch is beyond criticism.
昨日の試合は、守備といい攻撃といい、全然だめだった。
In yesterday's game, both the defense and the offense were terrible.
性格といい話し方といい、妹は母にそっくりだ。
In both personality and the way she talks, my younger sister is just like my mother.
注意
Unlike 〜も〜も, it is used only for the speaker's evaluation. 〜にしろ〜にしろ and 〜であれ〜であれ mean "either way" and carry no evaluation.
