練習すればするほど The more you practice

The more ~, the more ~

วิธีสร้าง
  • Vば形 + V辞書形 + ほど
  • いA(〜ければ) + いA + ほど
  • なA + なら + なA + な + ほど
  • なA + であれば + なA + であるほど
  • N + であれば + N + であるほど

AばAほどB means "the more A, the more B." The same word is repeated: first in the ば-form, then before ほど. For な-adjectives, use 静かなら静かなほど or 静かであれば静かであるほど. The second part often describes a change, such as 〜なる or 上手になる.

ほど has two main uses. (1) Degree: it shows how extreme something is by giving an example, as in 歩けないほど疲れた ("so tired I couldn't walk"). (2) Proportion: a short form of 〜ば〜ほど, meaning "the more A, the more B," as in 駅に近いほど高い. The second use usually describes a general tendency.

先生そうですか。ギターは、練習れんしゅうすればするほど上達じょうたつする楽器がっきですよ。I see. The guitar is an instrument you get better at the more you practice.

リンでも、私わたしには才能さいのうがないんじゃないかと思おもって、自信じしんがなかったんです。But I thought maybe I had no talent, so I wasn't confident.

先生才能さいのうより、夢中むちゅうになれるかどうかが大切たいせつです。リンさんはいつも楽たのしそうに弾ひいていますよ。Being able to get absorbed in it matters more than talent. You always look like you're having fun when you play.

リン実じつは、ある日本にほんの歌うたを聞きいて感動かんどうして、自分じぶんでも弾ひきながら歌うたいたくなったんです。日本語にほんごの発音はつおんの練習れんしゅうにもなりますから。Actually, I was moved by a Japanese song and wanted to sing it while playing. It's also good pronunciation practice for Japanese.
