Every time I go back home, the scenery of the town has changed a little.
A new convenience store opened in front of the station, and the park where I often played as a child became a parking lot.
But there is one place that never changes: an old hot spring a five-minute walk from the station.
Every time I go home and visit it, the old woman at the front desk always says to me, "My, how you've grown!"
Even though I'm already 35, and I haven't grown any taller since high school.
While I'm soaking in the hot water, I remember the summer vacations of my childhood and feel nostalgic. This place is full of memories.
Recently, that old woman told me, "Visit all kinds of places while you're young."
So this year, while I can still take time off, I plan to try hot springs in other towns too.
But wherever I go, the hot spring back home, where they tell me "My, how you've grown!", will probably still be the best.
