Right in the middle of ~ (something happens)
〜最中に means "right in the middle of" an action or event. The main clause usually describes something unexpected or disturbing that happens at that moment, such as a phone ringing. As 〜最中だ at the end of a sentence, it means "I am right in the middle of doing ~." It is used for activities that are in progress, not for long-lasting states like living somewhere or being a student.
会議の 最中に、大きな音で電話が鳴りだした。
In the middle of the meeting, a phone started ringing loudly.
シャワーを 浴びている最中に、急に電気が消えた。
Right in the middle of my shower, the lights suddenly went out.
While doing ~ anyway, also do something else
AついでにB means that A is the main purpose, and you take the chance to do B as well. B is usually a small extra task. Use the dictionary form for something you are going to do (行くついでに) and the た-form for something already done (行ったついでに). Nouns take の, as in 買い物のついでに.
郵便局へ 行くついでに、この手紙も出してくれる?
Since you're going to the post office anyway, could you mail this letter too?
買い物の ついでに、本屋に寄った。
While I was out shopping, I stopped by a bookstore.
リンちょっと郵便局に行ってくるね。国の家族に荷物を送るんだ。I'm just going to the post office. I'm sending a package to my family back home.
マリアあ、待って! 郵便局に行くついでに、スーパーに寄ってくれる?Oh, wait! While you're going to the post office, could you stop by the supermarket?
リンいいよ。何か足りないの?Sure. Are we short of something?
マリア肉じゃがを作っている最中に、しょうゆが切れちゃったの。あと、卵と牛乳と玉ねぎも……。In the middle of making nikujaga, I ran out of soy sauce. Also eggs, milk and onions...
リンちょっと待って。それはもう「ついで」じゃなくて、ふつうの買い物だよ。Hold on. That's not "while you're at it" anymore. That's regular shopping.
マリアごめんね。お金はあとで私が支払うから。Sorry. I'll pay you back later.
リンただいま。レジがすごく混んでいたよ。はい、頼まれた品物。I'm back. The checkout was really crowded. Here are the things you asked for.
マリアありがとう! 全部ある。……あれ? その箱、まだ持っているの?Thank you! Everything's here. ...Huh? You're still holding that box?
リンあっ! スーパーのことを考えていて、郵便局に行くのを忘れちゃった。Oh no! I was thinking about the supermarket and forgot to go to the post office.
マリアじゃあ、明日は私が行こうか。散歩のついでに。Then shall I go tomorrow? While I'm out for a walk.

R1マリアさんは、なぜリンさんに買い物を頼みましたか。
उत्तर: 2 料理の途中でしょうゆがなくなったから
Maria says she ran out of soy sauce in the middle of making nikujaga. Sending the package is Lin's errand, not Maria's.
R2最後に、リンさんが忘れていたことは何ですか。
उत्तर: 4 郵便局で荷物を送ること
Lin says he forgot to go to the post office. He bought everything at the supermarket, and Maria will pay later.
1会社の帰りに本屋に( )、雑誌を買いました。
उत्तर: 3 寄って
"On my way home from work, I stopped by a bookstore and bought a magazine." 寄る means to drop in on the way. 渡る is for crossing, 届く is for things arriving, and 止める needs an object with を.
2電池が( )しまったので、時計が止まっている。
उत्तर: 1 切れて
"The battery has run out, so the clock has stopped." 切れる means to run out. 足りる means to be enough, 割れる means to break (like glass), and 消える is used for lights or fire going out.
3二千円あれば、パーティーの飲み物代は( )と思います。
उत्तर: 4 足りる
"If we have 2,000 yen, I think it will be enough for the party drinks." 足りる means to be enough. The other verbs do not fit with "if we have 2,000 yen."
4会議の( )、電話が鳴った。
उत्तर: 2 最中に
"In the middle of the meeting, the phone rang." The correct form is N の最中に. 最中だ cannot connect to the next clause, ついでに is for adding an extra task, and とおりに means doing something the same way as something else.
5駅へ行く( )、銀行でお金を下ろしてきた。
उत्तर: 4 ついでに
"While going to the station, I also took out money at the bank." ついでに means doing one thing while doing another. 最中に attaches to ている or a noun, so 行く最中に is wrong, and うちに and とおりに do not fit the meaning.
6「ついでに」の使い方が正しい文はどれですか。
उत्तर: 1 散歩のついでに、パンを買ってきた。
ついでに is used when you take the chance of one activity to also do another. "I bought bread while out for a walk" is correct. Rain, a cold, or sleeping are not activities you do on purpose, so 2, 3 and 4 are unnatural.
7手紙を出しに郵便局へ行きます。
उत्तर: 3 ゆうびんきょく
郵便局 is read ゆうびんきょく (post office). ゆう is long, and きょく has no voiced sound. "I'm going to the post office to send a letter."
8この店は品物が多い。
उत्तर: 2 しなもの
品物 is read しなもの (goods). 品 is read ひん in words like 商品 (しょうひん). "This store has a lot of goods."
