व्याख्या

There are two uses. ① Place: along something long, such as a river, road, or line (川に沿って). ② Standard: acting in line with a plan, policy, manual, or someone's wishes (方針に沿って, 希望に沿った). Use ② is close to に基づいて, but に沿って suggests keeping to a set course or meeting someone's wishes.

川かわに沿そって、桜さくらの木きが並ならんでいる。

Cherry trees are lined up along the river.
この道みちに沿そって十分じゅっぷんほど歩あるくと、駅えきに出でます。

Walk along this road for about ten minutes and you will come out at the station.
会社かいしゃの方針ほうしんに沿そって、新あたらしい商品しょうひんを開発かいはつする。

We will develop new products in line with company policy.
お客様きゃくさまのご希望きぼうに沿そった旅行りょこうプランをご提案ていあんします。

टिप्पणी

The potential form also appears in business (ご希望に沿えるよう努力します). In use ①, it attaches to long things like rivers, roads, tracks, or coasts.
