Please do ~ (request, instruction or offer)

Formation

Explanation

Use this to ask someone to do something. It is common for instructions in shops, schools and offices: It is also used to warmly offer something: どうぞ食べてください (please eat). To ask for a thing, use N をください, as in 水をください.

Examples

Please write your name and phone number.

Excuse me, please speak a little more slowly.

Please, help yourself and eat a lot.

Please wait in front of the station.

Notes

〜てください is polite but still sounds like an instruction. With superiors, people often use a more polite request form.
