Formation
- いA(〜い → 〜く) + なります
- なA + に + なります
- N + に + なります
- いい → よく なります
Explanation
なります (to become) shows that a person or thing changes into a new state. With an i-adjective, change the final い to く: 寒く なります (it gets cold). With a na-adjective or a noun, add に: 元気に なります (get well), 先生に なります (become a teacher). Use なりました for a change that has already happened and なります for one that will happen. いい is irregular: よく なります (get better).
Examples
夜は 寒く なりますから、セーターを 着て ください。
It gets cold at night, so please wear a sweater.
毎日 練習しましたから、ギターが 上手に なりました。
I practiced every day, so I got good at the guitar.
弟は 来年 大学生に なります。
My younger brother will become a university student next year.
午後から 天気が よく なりました。
The weather got better in the afternoon.
Notes
Do not say 寒いに なります or きれいく なります: i-adjectives take 〜く, and na-adjectives and nouns take 〜に. きれい and 嫌い end in い but are na-adjectives, so say きれいに なります.

2私は 日本語の 先生( ) なりたいです。
Answer and explanation
Answer: 1 に
"I want to become a Japanese teacher." A noun takes に before なります, and here なります is in the 〜たいです form: 先生に なりたいです. く is for i-adjectives, and を and が are not used before なります.
3掃除を しました。部屋が( )なりました。
Answer and explanation
Answer: 4 きれいに
"I cleaned. The room became clean." きれい is a na-adjective, so it takes に: きれいに なりました. Although it ends in い, it is not an i-adjective, so きれいく is wrong.
