Explicación
Used to admit a fact while saying the result is different from what you would expect. The second half often describes something that isn't going well or is not enough. It is a little more formal than けれども and common in writing. The second half cannot be an intention, request, command or invitation.

新しいパソコンを買ったものの、使い方がよく分からない。
I bought a new computer, but I don't really know how to use it.
給料は安いものの、仕事は楽しくて気に入っている。
Although the pay is low, the work is fun and I like it.
この部屋は駅から近くて便利なものの、家賃が高すぎる。
This apartment is close to the station and convenient, but the rent is too high.
日本語の試験には合格したものの、会議で話すのはまだ難しい。
Although I passed the Japanese exam, speaking in meetings is still hard.
Notas
The second half cannot be the speaker's intention or an invitation. The set phrase とはいうものの (that said) is also common.
