N4 文法 24/60

〜ために

In order to ~ / for the sake of ~

接續

  • V辞書形 + ために
  • N + の + ために

解說

There are two uses. (1) Purpose: A tame ni B means the subject does B in order to achieve A. A is a deliberate action like iku or kau, and the same person does A and B. (2) Benefit: person/thing + no tame ni means 'for the sake of' them, as in kazoku no tame ni. Nouns like kenkou no tame ni can also show a purpose.

例句

I study Japanese every day in order to get into a Japanese university.

  • 新あたらしい 車くるまを 買かうために、お金かねを 貯ためて います。

注意

With potential forms or non-volitional verbs like mieru and wakaru, use you ni instead of tame ni (hanaseru you ni, not hanaseru tame ni). Purpose tame ni does not attach to adjectives.

答案與解析

答案: 3 旅行りょこうに 行いく ために、三万円さんまんえん 貯ためました。

Sentence 3, 'I saved 30,000 yen to go on a trip', is correct because going on a trip is a deliberate action. 1 uses a potential form, which needs you ni. In 2, rain is not something you control and the meaning does not fit. In 4, purpose tame ni cannot follow a na-adjective.
