ရှင်းလင်းချက်

This shows a worry or danger that something bad may happen. It is common in weather forecasts, news and warning signs. It is not used for good things. With a noun, add の, as in 大雨のおそれがある.

နမူနာများ

  • 台風たいふうの影響えいきょうで、明日あしたは電車でんしゃが 止とまるおそれがあります。

    Because of the typhoon, trains may stop running tomorrow.

  • 道みちが混こんでいるので、会議かいぎに 間まに合あわないおそれがある。

    The roads are crowded, so we may not make it to the meeting in time.

  • この池いけの氷こおりは薄うすく、 割われるおそれがあるので、上うえに乗のらないでください。

    The ice on this pond is thin and could break, so please don't step on it.

  • 今夜こんやは 大雨おおあめのおそれがあるので、早はやめに帰かえってください。

    There is a risk of heavy rain tonight, so please go home early.

မှတ်ချက်

It cannot be used for good things, as in 晴れるおそれがある. In conversation, かもしれない is more common.

A bridge breaking is a bad thing, so おそれがある fits: "This bridge is old, so it could collapse if a big truck crosses it." Good weather, studying abroad and happy parents are not bad things.
