There are two uses. (1) It marks a means or method, a formal version of で, as in 書面をもって (in writing). (2) With a time noun, it marks the point at which something ends or begins, as in 本日をもって終了. Use (2) is common in formal announcements and speeches; をもちまして is even more polite.

    We will notify you of the exam results in writing.

〜といったところだ

N といったところだ is the speaker's estimate that something is roughly N and no more. It often follows a quantity and is used with words like せいぜい or まだ. It suggests that the amount or level is not very high, so it is not used to emphasize a large number. In conversation you also hear といったところかな and といったところです.

    This town's population is three thousand at most.

小林課長本日ほんじつの報告ほうこくをもって、半年間はんとしかん続つづけてきた「朝あさごはんプロジェクト」を締しめくくりたいと思おもいます。With today's report, I would like to wrap up the Breakfast Project we have run for the past six months.

田中まず、利用者数りようしゃすうの推移すいいです。最初さいしょの月つきは一日いちにち二十人にじゅうにんほどでしたが、最後さいごの月つきは百人ひゃくにんを超こえました。First, the trend in the number of users. In the first month it was about 20 people a day, but in the last month it went over 100.

リンただ、売うり上あげは目標もくひょうに届とどかず、達成度たっせいどは七割ななわりといったところです。However, sales did not reach the target; we achieved roughly 70 percent of it.

リン費用ひようの面めんでは、辛かろうじて赤字あかじにならずに済すみました。In terms of costs, we barely managed to avoid a loss.

小林課長七割ななわりか。総そうじて言いえば、及第点きゅうだいてんだね。Seventy percent, huh. On the whole, I'd say it passes.

田中でも、予定よていどおり、プロジェクトは今日きょうで打うち切きりなんですよね……。But as planned, the project is being cut off today, right...?

小林課長いや、実じつは来月らいげつから、正式せいしきなサービスとして続つづけることが決きまったんだ。No, actually, it's been decided that we'll continue it as an official service from next month.

リンえっ、本当ほんとうですか。でも、まだ黒字くろじになる見込みこみは立たっていないのに……。What, really? But there's still no prospect of it making a profit...

小林課長社長しゃちょうが毎朝まいあさ食たべに来きて、あの卵焼たまごやきをすっかり気きに入いったらしいんだ。Apparently the president came to eat every morning and completely fell in love with that rolled omelet.

田中なるほど。いちばんの成果せいかは、社長しゃちょうの胃袋いぶくろをつかんだことかもしれませんね。I see. Maybe our biggest achievement was winning over the president's stomach.
