Expresses a feeling or physical sensation so strong you can't bear it, with words like うれしい, 寂しい, 暑い, 痛い, or 気になる. Both mean nearly the same, but ~てしょうがない is more casual. They describe the speaker's own feelings; for others, add ようだ or らしい.
試験の結果が 気になってしょうがない。
I can't stop worrying about the exam results.
今日は朝から 暑くてたまらない。
It has been unbearably hot since this morning.

Used when you feel sure about something based on what you have seen or heard. It is stronger than だろう or かもしれない. Na-adjectives and nouns connect directly, without だ. It is common in writing; in conversation people often say きっと〜だ instead.
電気が消えている。田中さんはもう 帰ったに違いない。
The lights are off. Tanaka must have gone home already.
こんなに人が並んでいるから、あの店のラーメンは おいしいに違いない。
With this many people lining up, that shop's ramen must be good.
リンもうすぐ本番だ…。緊張してしょうがないよ。It's almost time to go on... I'm so nervous I can't stand it.
佐藤大丈夫。毎日あんなに練習したんだから、きっとうまくいくに違いないよ。It'll be fine. You practiced so much every day, so it's sure to go well.
リンでも、途中で言葉を忘れたらどうしようって、不安でたまらないの。But I'm terribly worried, thinking what if I forget my words in the middle.
佐藤去年のリンさんは、日本語で自己紹介するのも大変だったでしょう。それに比べて、すごく成長したよ。Last year, even introducing yourself in Japanese was hard for you, right? Compared to then, you've grown a lot.
リンそうかな…。ありがとう。少し楽しみになってきた。You think so...? Thanks. I'm starting to look forward to it a little.

"I'm so thirsty I can't stand it, so I'll go buy some water." ~てしょうがない needs the て-form: かわいて.
7緊張して、声が小さくなった。
答案: 4 きんちょう
緊張 is read きんちょう (nervousness). The sentence means "I got nervous and my voice got quiet."
8ふあんな気持ちで、結果を待った。
答案: 3 不安
ふあん (anxiety) is written 不安. 案 and 暗 have the same sound but are different characters. The sentence means "I waited for the results feeling anxious."
