讲解

There are two uses. (1) An action was started but left unfinished. It is often used as ~かけの + noun: 読みかけの本 (a half-read book), 食べかけのパン. (2) Something is about to happen or has just begun to happen: 忘れかける (start to forget), 枯れかける (start to wither).

例句

  • 机つくえの上うえに 読よみかけの 本ほんが置おいてある。

There is a half-read book on the desk.

  • 彼女かのじょは何なにか 言いいかけて、やめた。

She started to say something, then stopped.

  • 約束やくそくを 忘わすれかけていたが、友達ともだちからのメールで思おもい出だした。

I had almost forgotten the appointment, but a message from my friend reminded me.

  • 庭にわの花はなが 枯かれかけていたので、水みずをやった。

The flowers in the garden were starting to wilt, so I watered them.

注意

~かける means halfway, the opposite of ~きる (to the end). Note that 話しかける (to speak to someone) is a separate word with a different meaning.

小测验

1食たべ( )のパンをテーブルに置おいたまま、出でかけてしまった。

答案与解析

答案: 4 かけ

I went out, leaving the half-eaten bread on the table. 食べかけのパン means bread that was partly eaten. The pattern is ~かけの + noun.

2手紙てがみを( )が、途中とちゅうでやめてしまった。

答案与解析

答案: 2 書かきかけた

I started writing a letter but stopped halfway. 途中でやめた (stopped halfway) matches 書きかけた. 書ききった means 'wrote it to the end', which contradicts the sentence.

3古ふるい友達ともだちの名前なまえを( )いたが、写真しゃしんを見みて思おもい出だした。

答案与解析

答案: 3 忘わすれかけて

I had almost forgotten my old friend's name, but I remembered it when I saw a photo. 忘れかけていた means 'was starting to forget'. 忘れずにいた means 'kept remembering', which contradicts 思い出した, and 忘れきれて and 忘れなくて cannot be followed by いた.
