〜ざるを得ない

วิธีสร้าง

• Vない形(〜ない を取る) + ざるを得ない
• する → せざるを得ない

คำอธิบาย

Means one has no choice but to do something one does not want to do or had not planned, because of the situation. Remove ない from the ない-form and add ざるを得ない (行かない → 行かざるを得ない). する becomes せざるを得ない. It is more formal than 〜しかない and common in writing and business. It is also used for reluctant judgments, as in 認めざるを得ない.

• 部長ぶちょうに直接ちょくせつ頼たのまれたら、引ひき受うけざるを得えない。

  If the manager asks me directly, I'll have no choice but to accept.

• 大雨おおあめで電車でんしゃが止とまったので、旅行りょこうは中止ちゅうしせざるを得えなかった。

  The trains stopped because of the heavy rain, so we had no choice but to cancel the trip.

• 毎日まいにち練習れんしゅうしている姿すがたを見みると、彼かれの努力どりょくは認みとめざるを得えない。

  Seeing him practice every day, I have to admit he works hard.

• 予算よさんが足たりないので、計画けいかくを見直みなおさざるを得えない。

  Since the budget isn't enough, we have no choice but to review the plan.

ข้อควรรู้

It is not used for things one wants to do (✗ 好きな歌手のコンサートなので行かざるを得ない). しざるを得ない is wrong; the correct form is せざるを得ない.
