बनावट
- V普通形 + はずだ
- いA普通形 + はずだ
- なA + な + はずだ
- N + の + はずだ
व्याख्या
Use はずだ when you are fairly sure something is true or will happen because of facts you know. It is more confident than かもしれない, and a reason with 〜から often appears in the sentence. It is not used to state your own intentions.
उदाहरण
田中さんは 十時の 新幹線に 乗ったから、昼には 大阪に 着くはずです。
Mr. Tanaka took the ten o'clock bullet train, so he should arrive in Osaka by noon.
有名な 先生の 本だから、おもしろいはずです。
It's a book by a famous teacher, so it should be interesting.
リンさんは 三年 日本に 住んでいたから、日本語が 上手なはずです。
Lin lived in Japan for three years, so her Japanese should be good.
今日は 日曜日だから、銀行は 休みのはずです。
Today is Sunday, so the bank should be closed.
टिप्पणी
To state your own intention, use つもり, not はず: 明日、図書館へ行くつもりです. Remember な for na-adjectives (上手なはず) and の for nouns (休みのはず).
सम्बन्धित व्याकरण
सानो क्विज
1荷物は 昨日 送りましたから、明日には( )はずです。
उत्तर र व्याख्या
उत्तर: 3 着く
I sent the package yesterday, so it should arrive tomorrow. はず follows the plain form, so 着く is correct. The ます form, te-form and volitional form do not connect.
2マリアさんは 料理の 学校で 勉強したから、料理が 上手( )はずです。
उत्तर र व्याख्या
उत्तर: 1 な
Maria studied at a cooking school, so she should be good at cooking. 上手 is a na-adjective, so it becomes 上手なはず. の is used with nouns.
3A「山田さんは 来ますか。」
B「来ると 言っていましたから、( )。」
उत्तर र व्याख्या
उत्तर: 2 来るはずです
'Is Mr. Yamada coming?' 'He said he would come, so he should come.' The reason supports 来るはず. 来ないはず contradicts it. 3 and 4 express the speaker's own will or wish, so they cannot describe Yamada.
