Gramática de hoy

precisely ~; ~ and nothing else (strong emphasis)

Formación

こそ follows a noun and stresses that it is this one thing and nothing else. It often shows strong feeling or determination, as in 今年こそ (this year for sure). The reply こちらこそ (the same goes for me) is also this use. With から, からこそ emphasizes a reason: it is exactly because of this that something happens.

Ejemplos

This year, I really want to pass the N3.

"Thank you for everything." "Oh no, I'm the one who should thank you."

things like ~ (belittling, humble, or surprised)

Formación

Both are spoken forms with two uses. (1) After a noun, they look down on something, or are humble when used about yourself なんか can also give a casual example (How about tea or something?). (2) なんて after a full clause shows surprise or disbelief: I can't believe that ~. なんか is not used this way.

Ejemplos

Someone like me is still not good at all.

When you're tired, how about something sweet?
