Explicación
ところ shows which stage an action is at, and the meaning depends on the verb form. Dictionary form + ところだ means "about to do"; ~ている + ところだ means "in the middle of doing"; ta-form + ところだ means "have just done". It often appears with これから, 今, or ちょうど.

これから晩ご飯を食べるところです。
I'm just about to eat dinner.
今、部長に出すレポートを書いているところです。
I'm in the middle of writing the report for the department manager.
今ちょうど、空港に着いたところです。
I've just arrived at the airport.
もうすぐ授業が始まるところなので、電話を切りますね。
Class is about to start, so I'm going to hang up.
Notas
Ta-form + ところだ is only for something that happened moments ago. If you feel something is recent even though some time has passed, use 〜たばかり.
