〜きる・〜きれない

Formación

  • Vます形 + きる
  • Vます形 + きれない

Explicación

~きる means doing something all the way to the end, or reaching a complete state (読みきる, 疲れきる). ~きれない means you cannot do it all because there is too much (食べきれない, 数えきれない). 待ちきれない expresses being too excited to wait.

Ejemplos

  • この本ほんは厚あついけれど、一週間いっしゅうかんで 読よみきった。

    This book is thick, but I read the whole thing in a week.

  • 料理りょうりが多おおすぎて、二人ふたりでは 食たべきれなかった。

    There was too much food for the two of us to finish.

  • 山やまの上うえから、数かぞえきれないほどの星ほしが見みえた。

    From the top of the mountain, we could see more stars than we could count.

  • 一日中いちにちじゅう歩あるいて、すっかり 疲つかれきってしまった。

    After walking all day, I was completely exhausted.

Notas

~きれない is close to the potential negative, but stresses that there is too much to finish. The positive 'can do it all' is ~きれる.
