I think that ~ (opinion or guess)
〜と思います gives the speaker's own thought. It has two uses: (1) an opinion or impression (この映画は おもしろいと思います, I think this movie is interesting), and (2) a guess about something you are not sure of (明日は 雨が 降ると思います, I think it will rain tomorrow). The part before と is in the plain form; な-adjectives and nouns need だ. In a statement, the person who thinks is the speaker ("I"). To ask for an opinion, say 〜を どう思いますか.
明日は 雨が 降ると 思います。
I think it will rain tomorrow.
この 映画は おもしろいと 思います。
I think this movie is interesting.
Said "~" / said that ~ (quoting someone)
〜と言いました reports what someone said. と marks the quoted words. There are two ways: (1) a direct quote, with the exact words inside 「 」, where です and ます stay as they were said; and (2) an indirect quote without 「 」, where the content is put into the plain form. The speaker is marked with は and the listener with に. For set phrases people always say, use 〜と言います: 寝る前に「おやすみなさい」と言います.
先生は「明日 テストを します」と 言いました。
The teacher said, "We will have a test tomorrow."
父は 来週 東京へ 行くと 言いました。
My father said that he would go to Tokyo next week.
リン佐藤さん、漢字は 大変だと 思います。とても 難しいです。Sato-san, I think kanji are tough. They're really difficult.
佐藤そうですか。でも、先生は、漢字は あまり 難しくないと 言いました。Is that so? But the teacher said kanji aren't very difficult.
リン先生には やさしいです。でも、私には 難しいです。They're easy for the teacher. But they're difficult for me.
佐藤じゃ、「休」の 字を 見て ください。左は「人」、右は「木」です。Then look at the character 休 (rest). The left side is 人 (person), and the right side is 木 (tree).
リンあ、人が 木の 横で 休んで います! おもしろいです。Oh, a person is resting next to a tree! That's interesting.
佐藤たぶん、ほかの 漢字も おもしろいと 思います。I think other kanji are probably interesting too.
リンじゃ、今日は 私も 木の 横で 休みます。漢字の 勉強は 明日です。Then today I'll rest next to a tree too. I'll study kanji tomorrow.

R1先生は 漢字は どうだと 言いましたか。
答案: 2 あまり 難しくないと 言いました。
Sato-san says 先生は、漢字はあまり難しくないと言いました (The teacher said kanji aren't very difficult). It is Lin-san who thinks kanji are tough (大変).
R2リンさんは 今日 何を しますか。
答案: 4 木の 横で 休みます。
At the end, Lin-san says 今日は私も木の横で休みます (Today I'll rest next to a tree too) and that kanji study is tomorrow.
1これは 子どもの 本です。日本語が とても ( )です。私も 読む ことが できます。
答案: 3 やさしい
"This is a children's book. The Japanese is very easy. I can read it too." やさしい (easy) fits. 難しい and 大変 mean the opposite, and たぶん cannot follow とても.
2私は 肉が ( ) 好きじゃ ありません。
答案: 1 あまり
"I don't like meat very much." あまり is used with a negative to mean "not very." とても is not used with a negative like this, and たぶん (probably) does not fit when you talk about your own likes.
3明日は ( ) 雨だと 思います。
答案: 4 たぶん
"I think it will probably rain tomorrow." たぶん (probably) often goes with 〜と思います. あまり needs a negative, and とても and 大変 do not fit before 雨.
4この 映画は おもしろい( )思います。
答案: 2 と
"I think this movie is interesting." Use と after what you think: おもしろいと思います.
5日本語の 勉強は 大変( )と 思います。
答案: 4 だ
"I think studying Japanese is tough." Na-adjectives and nouns take だ before と思います: 大変だと思います. Do not use です here.
6兄は、今晩は 家に ( )と 言いました。
答案: 3 帰らない
"My older brother said he won't come home tonight." Use the plain form before と言いました. The plain form of 帰りません is 帰らない. Do not add だ after a verb, and 帰らなく and 帰り cannot come before と言いました.
7先生は __ __ _★_ __ 言いました。
答案: 2 やさしい
The correct order is 3→4→2→1: 先生は明日のテストはやさしいと言いました (The teacher said tomorrow's test is easy). The star is やさしい.
8私も そう 思います。
答案: 1 おもいます
思います is read おもいます (I think). The sentence means "I think so too."
