ものを is close to のに. It expresses regret, disappointment, or dissatisfaction with someone about something that did not turn out as it could have. It often appears as 〜ば/〜たら…たものを, 'if only ~, I could have ~.' It can end the sentence to express the feeling alone, or continue with what actually happened.
I would have helped if you had just asked me. Why did you keep quiet?
If only I had left home a little earlier, I would have caught the bus.
It would be cheaper to buy at a nearby shop, yet my brother always goes to an expensive shop far away.
No one would have known if he had kept quiet, but he told us about his mistake himself.
It is not used for good things that actually happened. It is more formal and slightly old-fashioned than のに.
"If only I had taken an umbrella, I wouldn't have got wet." ものを can end a sentence expressing regret. ものなら (if) and ものの (although) need a following clause, and もので (because) gives a reason or excuse, not regret.
"I would have picked him up at the station by car if he had told me, but he walked here in the rain." ものだから (because), ことに (to one's ~) and どころか (far from) do not fit.
3 means "If only we had practiced more, we could have won. It's a real shame." 1 and 4 just describe what happened, and 2 is an invitation, so ものを cannot be used.
