〜てはじめて

व्याख्या

AてはじめてB means "only after experiencing A did B happen," implying that before A, the speaker did not understand B. B usually expresses a realization or change, such as わかる, 気づく, or 知る. It does not take the speaker's intention or a request.

  • 一人ひとりで 暮くらしてはじめて、親おやのありがたさがわかった。

    It wasn't until I lived alone that I understood how much my parents had done for me.

  • 実際じっさいに 行いってみてはじめて、その町まちのよさを知しった。

    Only after actually going there did I learn how nice that town is.

  • 先生せんせいに 言いわれてはじめて、間違まちがいに気きがついた。

    I didn't notice my mistake until my teacher pointed it out.

  • 自分じぶんで 働はたらいてはじめて、お金かねの大切たいせつさがわかるようになった。

    Only after working myself did I come to understand the value of money.

टिप्पणी

はじめて may also be written 初めて. Do not confuse it with はじめて meaning "for the first time," as in 初めて日本に来た.
