Because of ~; therefore (formal)
A formal, written way to say "because of ~." It attaches to nouns, adjectives, and verbs, as in 若さゆえ or 便利であるがゆえに, and can modify a noun as 〜ゆえのN. At the start of a sentence, ゆえに is a conjunction meaning "therefore," often used in math and logic.
若さゆえに、失敗を恐れずに挑戦できることもある。
Because of youth, there are times when you can take on challenges without fearing failure.
この地域は雪が多いがゆえに、冬の観光が盛んだ。
Because this region gets a lot of snow, winter tourism is thriving.
It's not as if ~, so ~
Means "since it's not as if ~." The speaker mentions something that is obviously not the case, as in "you're not a child," to criticize or advise someone. It is followed by the speaker's judgment, advice, or command. In speech, 〜じゃあるまいし is common.
子どもじゃあるまいし、自分のことは自分でやりなさい。
You're not a child, so take care of your own things.
新入社員ではあるまいし、そんな基本的なことを聞かないでくれ。
You're not a new employee, so don't ask me such basic things.
田中マリアさん、まだ残ってたの? 明日の発表の準備?Maria, you're still here? Preparing for tomorrow's presentation?
マリアはい。スライドを直すのは、もう二十回目です。一文字でも間違えたらと思うと、怖くて。Yes. This is the twentieth time I've revised the slides. I'm scared when I think I might get even one letter wrong.

マリア大げさに聞こえるかもしれませんが、本当です。私はまだ未熟なので、せめて資料だけは完璧にしたいんです。It may sound exaggerated, but it's true. I'm still inexperienced, so I want at least the materials to be perfect.
田中気持ちは分かるけど、気負いすぎだよ。社長の前で話すのではあるまいし、聞くのはチームの五人だけだよ。I understand how you feel, but you're trying too hard. It's not as if you're speaking in front of the company president; only the five people on our team will be listening.
マリアでも、前の会議で日付を一つ間違えて、恥ずかしかったんです。But at the last meeting I got one date wrong, and I was embarrassed.
田中そんな些細なこと、誰も覚えてないよ。経験が浅いゆえに失敗を恐れるのは自然だけど、恐れて臆病になるほうがもったいない。Nobody remembers something that trivial. It's natural to fear failure because you're inexperienced, but it's a waste to become timid out of fear.
田中うちのチームは失敗に寛容だから安心して。私も完璧を目指しすぎないよう、いつも自分を戒めてるんだ。Our team is tolerant of mistakes, so don't worry. I always remind myself not to aim too hard for perfection, too.
マリア田中さんでもそうなんですか。少し気が楽になりました。Even you, Mr. Tanaka? I feel a little more relaxed now.
田中よかった。じゃあ、もう帰ろう。Good. Well then, let's go home.
