ほど has two main uses. (1) Degree: it shows how extreme something is by giving an example, as in 歩けないほど疲れた ("so tired I couldn't walk"). (2) Proportion: a short form of 〜ば〜ほど, meaning "the more A, the more B," as in 駅に近いほど高い. The second use usually describes a general tendency.

နမူနာများ

• 昨日きのうは一日中いちにちじゅう歩あるいて、もう歩あるけないほど 疲つかれた。

  I walked all day yesterday and was so tired I couldn't walk anymore.

• 週末しゅうまつなのに、山やまほど 仕事しごとが残のこっている。

  Even though it's the weekend, I have a mountain of work left.

• 駅えきに 近ちかいほど、アパートの値段ねだんは高たかくなる。

  The closer an apartment is to the station, the more expensive it is.

• 有名ゆうめいな店みせほど、昼ひるご飯はんの時間じかんは混こんでいる。

  The more famous a restaurant is, the more crowded it is at lunchtime.

မှတ်ချက်

After a number (十分ほど), ほど means "about." In use (1), くらい is also possible, but ほど sounds slightly more formal.
