ない形

Plain negative form of verbs (don't / won't do)

Formación
  • 1グループ: ます形けいの い段だん → あ段だん + ない（書かきます → 書かかない、飲のみます → 飲のまない、話はなします → 話はなさない、待まちます → 待またない）
  • 1グループ（〜います）: い → わ + ない（買かいます → 買かわない、会あいます → 会あわない）
  • 2グループ: ます → ない（食たべます → 食たべない、見みます → 見みない）
  • 3グループ: します → しない、来きます → 来こない
  • 例外れいがい: あります → ない

The ない-form is the plain (non-polite) negative of a verb, with the same meaning as 〜ません. It is used with friends and family: 行かない, 食べない. It is also the base for patterns such as 〜ないでください, 〜なければなりません and 〜なくてもいいです. How to make it depends on the verb group, so check the group first, as with the て-form. In Group 1, the sound before ます changes from the い-row to the あ-row (き → か, み → ま).

    I'm not going to school today. (casual)

  • 私わたしは 朝あさごはんを 食たべない。

    I don't eat breakfast. (casual)

Formación
  • Vない形 + で + ください

〜ないでください politely asks or instructs someone not to do something. It is the negative of 〜てください. It is softer than 〜てはいけません, which states a rule, and is often said directly to the person in front of you. It can also show consideration for the listener, as in 心配しないでください (Please don't worry).

  • 教室きょうしつで 英語えいごを 話はなさないでください。日本語にほんごで 話はなしましょう。

    Please don't speak English in the classroom. Let's speak in Japanese.

リン明日あした、学校がっこうへ 行いっても いいですか。May I go to school tomorrow?
