い形容詞
Adjectives ending in い: polite, noun-modifying and negative forms

- いA + です（高いです）
- いA + N（高い 本）
- いA（〜い → 〜く） + ないです／ありません（高くないです）
- いいです → よくないです（例外）
い-adjectives end in い, like 大きい (big), 新しい (new) and おいしい (delicious). At the end of a sentence, add です to be polite: 高いです (it is expensive). Before a noun, use the adjective as it is: 高い 本 (an expensive book). For the negative, change the final い to く and add ないです: 高くないです. 高くありません is also possible. いい (good) is irregular: its negative is よくないです.

わたしの いぬは 大きいです。耳も 大きいです。My dog is big. Its ears are big too.
足は ながいです。Its legs are long.
わたしの ねこは 小さいです。口も 手も 小さいです。My cat is small. Its mouth and paws are small too.
目は あおいです。Its eyes are blue.
いぬの なまえは「チビ」です。ねこの なまえは「ボス」です。The dog's name is Chibi ("Shorty"). The cat's name is Boss.
チビは 大きい いぬです。ボスは 小さい ねこです。Chibi is a big dog. Boss is a small cat.
いえの ボスは… ボスです!And the boss of the house is... Boss!
